Welcome to EDCI 271!

This blog contains all the information you need to successfully complete EDCI 271: Classroom Applications of Educational Technology. This will be a hybrid course which means part of the time we will meet face to face, and the rest of the time we will meet in hyperspace! This will help you understand how technology can be used to teach and learn. You will be able to discuss more knowledgably about the pros and cons of distance education after having this experience.

I thought that this was a great website because it lists many technological devices that can aid an individual. The site is broken up in to overall categories and then further into product name, description, grade level, vendor information, price, and website. I thought that it was very helpful.

This wesite was very useful in the topic that I covered as far as the copyright laws ans fair use amendment. It was very hard for me to narrow this topic down, but the most important issue should have been the fair use amendment. Http://www.techlearning.com go there and there is all the information needed for future reference.

I liked this site simply because it put into practice how to involve girls in technology. I am all about social action, and this is one way that the initiative was taken and extended to the next level.

I did my presentation on Assistive Technology. This site is a great list of vendors of such products and their websites.

This site supplied a lot of information for adults, kids, teens, and families on protecting against inappropriate internet material. Whether looking for information about filtering, monitoring, or time limiting software, this is where to look! ;)

This website is the 10 Commandments for Computer Ethics. Is explains the top rules for computers and not using them for harm or dishonesty. Now, I know that the title can be a sensitive issue because it involves the word "commandment" (and I don't point that out to be a jerk but as an understanding) so, the word can be changed to rules if incorporating this in the classroom. A way to effectively use these rules could be to review them with your class and then have them come up with their own list of computer rules for the classroom.
